Lanes End Cottage is just a short drive to Camden, Maine... “Where the mountains meet the sea”. The Camden area is noted for its beautiful harbor, Camden Hills State Park, windjammers, lighthouses, superb restaurants and cafes, lobster, museums, islands and many lakes. It is the very best place in New England to spend your vacation.
Lermond Pond is a smallish (for Maine) lake. It is about 1 mile wide by 1.5 miles long and is connected to Alford Lake via a spillway and a very short portage (40 feet). The canoeable length of the two lakes together is about 5 miles. Due to its size, Lermond Pond boats are mostly canoes, kayks, rowboats and fishing boats with small motors. The fishing is excellent. The water is usually clear and clean (locals drink it) and wonderful to swim in.
The cabin is only 25 feet from the lake…the boat and swimming dock connects to cabin’s wraparound deck. We have an assortment of canoes and rowboats for your use.
There are 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen with both a modern electric range and a vintage Atlantic wood cook stove, an open plan living/dining space with an entertainment center and a very large native stone fireplace and 1.5 baths. The living/dining space has 270 deg. view with many, many windows. The master bedroom has a queen bed with dual firmness controls, lots of built in cabinets, a walk-in closet and a tv with cd. The second bedroom has a trundle bed. The main bath has a claw foot tub/shower, a sink that was hand made and painted in Maine and a vanity. The ½ bath is on the first floor. The furnishings are first rate and very comfortable. There is also an outside hot water shower.
Suitable for four.
